Professional Experience and Areas of Concentration

Elizabeth Howard represents clients in complex civil litigation matters primarily focusing on professional negligence defense. Among the clients she represents are licensed health care professionals including, physicians, physician assistants, dentists, and mental health providers in malpractice, litigation, and administrative matters. Elizabeth also assists health related entities such as hospitals, surgery centers, and individual practices on a wide array of issues including litigation, health care compliance, and risk management matters.

Specializing in trial work, Elizabeth has tried complex cases with high professional and financial stakes for her clients. She has had a senior-level role in all aspects of her cases – from initial client consultation, through pleadings and discovery, and trial or case resolution. Elizabeth’s experience includes taking and defending numerous depositions of high-profile experts and parties, representing clients in domestic relations bench trials, and multiple medical malpractice jury trials.

Elizabeth received her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she graduated eighth in her class. Before entering into private practice, she clerked for the Honorable Russell Carparelli of the Colorado Court of Appeals.

In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys traveling, long-distance running, spending time with her family, and mentoring young lawyers informally, and previously more formally through the University of Denver Sturm College of Law Mentoring Program.

Leadership Positions

Elizabeth served on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Women’s Bar Association for three years, with her most recent term ending in May 2019. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the William E. Doyle Inn of Court. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association (Health Law Section), and the Denver Bar Association.
